Backstory: (WILD) cleric was killed 10-20 minutes before I log on IRC. I haven't been around since
the initial start of the wipe (after I had deloaded my warrior) so I log on to try to find a shield
and a weapon to assist the cleric. Realized I didn't have any coins so I had to go to fountain to get
water while I waited for someone to toss me some coins.

Comments: There were NO WILD immortals involved at any point in this pkill. The only 34+ that I saw
around at all during the entire escapade was Koi. I am not sure what prompted Outlaw to decide it would
be fun to go around and start killing any and every person they want. As has been shown on this
mud for a couple years now (NOWClan and Finns specifically) if you choose to level up trash
characters (did these characters even have 1 day playtime on them?) for the specific purpose of pkill
and then go on a rampage there has been repercussions.

Except... that's not exactly what happened. There's a most important chunk of gaming between your "chatting in the inn with Khassus" and the "dead Otlw players/recallers appearing in the inn."

Otlw targetted a series of players. 1) High levels we've seen zoning with MH 2) Suspicious high levels that may be MH-related, or at the very least have gear that doesn't load in mid-level zones. 3) Wildz 4) People with very nice gear we wanted.

PK was going fine and we were gearing up quite nicely until we whacked 2 VAs. Both quite buffly stacked.

We then headed for Mystic to sort gear and prepare for what looked like a MH raid... they were logging.

As you'll see.. that's where things changed. All of a sudden Kalidon appears and starts stabbing our chars. The order then went out to recall and rent. We tried. What can you do against cheating immortals?

Your log shows killing a couple that would've otherwise not been alone and flagged in an inn. On top of that - people with cash to rent, suddenly found their piles of cash zapped - so they couldn't rent either.

Whether the cheating imm/imms were 100% WILD... 50% WILD... friend of Wild... VA... friend of VA... significant other of Brama... it doesn't really matter. It's just the same old shit, different wipe.

I rather liked Mark's suggestion (cuz it was really mine) that immortal cheat chars... chars that we can't pk unless 10v10 declared battle... chars of the best friends of immortals... etc. just be given a little * next to their name in the wholist or maybe some kind of no_hassle flag.

And in the end... wtf is the big deal for the immortal anyway. Just clone yourself up a new batch of gear and allow us our victory - FFS. Some of us think we're playing a hardcore pk game... let us enjoy the illusion.

VA leaders created Aftermath, which then evolved into Pigs which then evolved into Weenor which then made the new Wild....but the old leader of Aftermath which had nothing to do with the new Wild did create VA. My guess is they are like Myth and BST.....i'm just guessing about last part though.

hey otlw, let's use main chars and do what you did but avoding the trash rule, let's see who can stop the group of 50 players. they all lose equip and maybe start thinking towards pk since they be naked and not scared to die anymore.

It isn't about dying to pk and losing equip/spells.

It is about that alot of us are old, married, kids, etc. so it becomes a loss of time. It is about the fact that when we have time to rexp/regear/respell, you will once again log 25 characters and push us off the mud just because you can. It is about the fact that once you do kill us, you will run your group to some ridiculous place to wear off the flags and do everything you can to prevent a revenge kill.

It is just like playing Halo 3, where it isn't enough that someone shot you in the face with the shotgun, then they need to teabag you until you respawn. Killing us is never enough, you always have to teabag us into quitting.

Tell me how they were trash? Were they not high enough levels? Wrong. Were they not spelled/trained up properly? Hardly. Were they rolling around in shop gear? No again.

Or... was it just because they weren't a bunch of tanks/scouts/healers decked out in +dam, +con, and +heals? ie. zoning gear.

Yup. There were 6 druids. Yup. Outside of stoneskin which is neither fun nor easy to get - druids suck at PvE.

We didn't make the chars... it's crazy that druids suck rox in PvE and 99% of the time are less desirable than a naked Sky Scout with a trash bow.

Maybe we remove Druids from the game? Give a few of their spells to Shamans and be done with em?

Really that's just it. You know they suck at zoning - so any gear on them... +slots... +int... +wis... who cares!!!! So you call em trash.

But... as far as the gear you DO like goes... +con +dam +heals +hardbash... after the first few pkills we were stacked with more then a nice supply of that stuff.

Maybe you should've come and got it?

Pablo - blame Mark, he lured me back. Civ4 was cool. I'm gonna blame Everquest for breeding/infecting the land with the crybaby gamer attitude. Seems Ultima Online was pretty hardcore... so 6 years later - same crap. Kill the wrong imms... they cheat.... someone yells trash... people get pissed and leave game. Ironically, last time I played it was Mark on the side of the cheating imms!

What defines arctic is the playstyle of the majority of it's players. Currently the majority are not pk inclined. If a subset of the current playerbase wants to pk each other, they are welcome to. But it seems the only pk anyone is interested in, is pking people who are not interested.

Man, I love a good pk battle as much as the next guy but it's the freaking lamers that randomly trash kill just to show how large they think their e-peen is or take out their RL mental and emotional disorders out on people just trying to enjoy other aspects of the game that suck balls.

I'd like to touch on two things here:

NOWClan has never had any trash characters. We simply take the game less seriously than others and do not zone nearly as much as other clans decide to. This does not make us trash.

If you read through old logs, you'll notice very, VERY few NOWClan pk losses.

I'd also like to mention that Bob and I(when he was on his no-bash, immune to elements, limit_damage druid, and I was using Huma and 15-20 damage) went randoming on very, very geared characters and were forced immediately to stop. We had ams potions, 20+ heals on each of us, and were destroying anyone and everyone in sight (not low levels, of course).

We were forced to stop. Best gear in the game and we were told we could not continue.

It's the behavior that determines whether a given character is trash or not. It doesn't matter how many shinies you have, or what spells you have.

Isn't that sort of the definition to being "trash"? Going into a fight with nothing to lose etc? I think if 2 of the most stacked people in the game went out pking, i certainly wouldn't call them "trash" If anything i would call it unfair:) I wouldn't want a 20dam huma basher + limdam/nobash allspells druid targetting me! But lets get real, and change the definition of "trash" could we.

Well, what I'm getting at is that it's not fair to call people trash because of what they're wearing.

Most of the gear is claimed by big clans. People have lives. People don't want to do the same zone sixty times to have one piece of gear load.

In a game when items are limited by design, someone has to start at the low end of the totem pole. Calling them trash really isn't fair at all.

instead of changing the definition of trash, maybe just realise this game is not a democracy and take whats served on the chin. in all probability, nothing said here, or on any forums will have any impact whatsoever. although the concept of "fight the power" is alluring in theory, it simply doesn't work in this circumstance.
