Along the Walls of the High Clerist Tower
    The pathway around the tower walls is quite narrow, allowing very
little movement. This path appears to have been much wider at one point,
but additions to the tower walls have brought it down to just a few feet
wide. Small stones fall from the mountain side above, striking the ground
constantly. Several small cracks are visible in the tower wall here,
indicating a possible weakness in the towers defenses.

    what you have here is guys with 0 battle pk experience going up against guys who have battled for years. doesnt matter much that chars/gear were skewed towards one direction compared to the experience vs. lack of experience. unless of course you use al's equation.

    Reafe you are totally right. Mael, for the most part, has way more people with 'pk experience'(whatever that means - how long does it take to learn how to bash and loot and walk away).

    But here's something noone ever stops to think about. Mael are the good guys. Mael is teaching these cores. THATS RIGHT TEACHING. Teaching them what the hell to expect and what to do in, what is the ESSENCE of this game, PK. And they're learning. They don't even afk in their inn anymore.

    I have the utmost respect for these guys for standing up to a bigger clan and refusing to be pushed around where so many others buckle and fail. And I guess what that means is they understand the underlying concept of this game which is, 'if you want the best stuff you FIGHT for it'. Through the years I've been playing this game I've seen more and more clans wanting to fight less and less and 'clan politics' taking place of actual pk. It's disheartening really... But to my original point - CORE or any clan other than WNR(who are a bunch of imms or imm-favored lovechilds) will never get to the top unless they fight to get there.

    The skill comes in being able to acquire those dominant spells and equipment sets, and putting yourself in a position to apply them. PK in arctic is STRATEGIC. This is not fucking Halo 3, the skill is not in the actual killing, it is in the preparation and execution. So stop trying to paint the picture that you are somehow on our level, because you are not. You only make yourself look foolish.

    I definatly applaud your effort though! This is how BSP was forged of course.

    since i started playing the game has changed a lot. here's a little bed time story which basically recaps the progressing of a mudder's 'career'. you start out at point a; you suck at the game, are limited to exploring in 1 town (for me this was palanthas), and die on a daily basis. as you get better you start moving out of your home town and learning new things; you may even achieve that coveted 'title' if you keep playing hard enough. then you arrive at point b, you want more. point b is when you start grouping with the same people day in and day out and establish a level of trust. these are people that will help you grow - they'll share what they know in return for a good group mate who will help them accomplish their ultimate goal - the perfect set. you keep zoning, all the while refining your grouping skills, until you eventually join a clan after many hours invested with your mud buddies. this is when you start to pk, you finally have some back-up to stand up vs the randomers and trash clans that love to reek havoc on unsuspecting noobs. you do this for a while until you want more, you want a better clan. you arrive at point c, with the burning desire to join on of the top tier clans that run all the big zones. this where you have to prove your worth to get into the group. in turn more and spells and gear come your way and you start having a blast in large scale pk. you love the adrenaline rush that accompanies the risk of losing the gear you've worked so hard to load, and are propelled by the desire to win so you can continue to dominate the mud. you do this for a long while until you want a change. you tire of the monotony of zoning and want to bigger say in what happens on the mud.

    you've reached point d, you start a clan. things can be hard, you may not know as much as your old clans leaders but you demand that knowledge to be gained. you get it anyway you can, zone studying, exploring, info sharing/trades - but in the end you have the knowledge. then you assert yourself with the big clans, you battle and have fun, then you want another change. things keep advancing until you just like playing for playing sake. the challenge in pk becomes limited because major clans only like to fight when they have the advantage; endless amounts of prep, people and plans which almost always result in nothing, one side rents.

    this is an issue that prevails on arctic today. what do people think about this idea - big clans let the new clans level and explore, and meet them on the battle field when they have good spells and can compete. I remember playing against bsp who basically put up a deathguard on killing cyan. they didn't want anyone to have stun except themselves, that's all fine and good, and it was a challenge to gain the good spells, but it was also a waste of time in many respects. then this wipe rolls around and look what happens with WNR. mael won't attack them because they have so many stunners - the idea of mutually assured destruction prevents that from happening. the match up is basically the equivalent of the cold war which leaves bsp bloodthirsty and searching for something to chew on, but unwilling to attack a nuclear enabled clan. this this how arctic was meant to be played?

    how about putting to use the new clan system into play, some mechanic that allows clans to zone worry free until they reach a certain point. once you reach that point (lets say, you've killed cyan a few times just for arguments sake) it would then be togged off. or maybe this: clans have the option of playing immune to pk, but can never acquire certain 'epic' items unless they have pk flags toggled on. if you really want the best items, you're going to have to turn those flags on at some point! with all the revisions to the game, why not make some to the sphere of pk, even just to test it for a while.

    maybe I need another equation to illustrate this point … ;)

    It takes skill to type "assist" and get rewarded with the 4th or 5th load on a spell that otherwise would be sold, dropped on the ground, or otherwise just not even loaded in the first place?

    Dude, even I would probably have tents on my crap mage if I was in Mael by this time in the wipe. So to point to the spells and eqs on chars that probably would never even get a sniff at em if they were not in Mael is kinda funny.

    You are very right... *points to how, until very recently, Core won almost every single battle against Mael where both sides were expecting combat... and did it without mage area or nice eq*

    And I'll also point out that the main reason Mael has had some wins as of late is because people think the wipe is close and they are starting to not really give a damn. They just wanna fight, and as such, people are not fighting as smart as we were early on in the war.

    Don't mistake a desire to just fight and kill for a lack of ability or strategic planning sense.

    Core's PK experience in minimal, I agree. Of course there is more to ca 'h' x ca 'h' y you fuck. More than bash,stand,loot,flee.
    Core is out geared, out numbered, and out spelled. So yes this is a learning experience for us and I encouraged everyone to practice, even if that meant death. No Core will never be able to defeat Mael this wipe or probably even next, but that was never the point. Anyone whos ever been forced out of a zone or pkilled for their gear can understand where we were coming from.
    Some of us are learning the basics of player killing, some are hiding from it, some are quitting because of it. Core has always had a hard time advancing this wipe because of all the fighting we've been involved with.
    To Mael - Most Core characters are naked right now and most are discouraged. Both clans have had their fun and Mael has proven once again they are the best. Because of the time of year and lack of time everyone has to play I ask that we end this 'war' and you give us peace. Terms negotiable.

    Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but I do believe a number of wnrs arent allowed to get involved in pk due to their high level imms. It avoids a conflict of interest, where they could be accused of using their imms to cheat. I think this is why the clan in general steers clear of warring isnt it?

    As someone who hardly ever plays anymore I agree with Maldrik that this is a good learning experience for CORE. Fighting with naked chars against a clan with quite a few buff ones is kinda like pissing into the wind. You win a fight get some gear and that just urges the warmachine to continue on. Lose a fight u lose some xp and maybe some recalls but you gain some pk experience. But overall, unless its 2 large clans fighting who are equal or have very good pk leaders, doing higher teir zones and getting the spoils from said zones is the only way to be on a level to compete. Fight a 10v10 with MAEL. Your best chars vs theirs and see what its like to fight a group like that. Then you will realize how much game knowledge you need to compete on that lvl. Maybe after that they will peace you!

    I have always said all along I liked CORE and appreciated what you guys were all about. At the end of the day you can he said she said about how this war started et all... Ok guess what. I was THERE. I was actually staring at the screen while it transpired, and witness to the way that your boy vic or whoever that clownshoe is handled the situation. He died you retailated and its history from there. I told you even before you come to Sanction its about respect, and courtesy and this guy showed us the exact opposite. So what if we come to the zone? Do you have legions of spelled/geared addicts chomping at the bit for action because all enemies ran in fear? Because frankly that is the kind of bank account one would normally need to cash a check written by the mouth of this Vic guy. So now you see the reality of it, and maybe you learn a little humility to go along with the pk experience you got and you come back and rule us at a later date? Maybe you learned sometimes you bottle up the insults you take from the big guy to unleash later? Revenge is a dish best served cold, barbequed, stewed, however you want, but it fucking worthless if you can't serve it period.

    mavlad, the reason i don't need to elaborate on what i say in response to your ridiculing statements is because i've already made my point. you talk in absolutes; for you it's either win or lose. are you naive to the point that you think the game revolves around yourself? where i make comments in regard to the game on the whole, you twist others words and manipulate situations to see your endgame mentality. did i ever suggest that wnr should attack mael? no. did i complain about 'losing' a war? no. so stop it - cut the trash talk and contribute to conversations that actually matter, ie the future of the game. you know what they say, change is good. perhaps this doesn't apply in mavlad's world.

    By all practical measurements, Core lost this war awhile ago and Mael won it easily. But having Core's leader admit that, just isn't good enough for you? You gotta come off like you were not the one who started this war by attacking a Core member (regardless of how he may or may not have behaved) when Core's leader was clearly online and all you had to do was tell him?

    You speak of arrogance, but all I see is a sad little man who, for whatever reason, has some strange need/desire to act like the big kid on the play ground, pushing around the little kids "just because". I might have been one of the people who pushed hard to attack Mael at Sanction, but it's because of attitudes like yours that made Diplomacy almost impossible that night.

    No one wants to be pushed around by a bully, let alone one of the bullies tag along minions who ride in his tail wind hoping to gain any spoils that trickle down.

    Patrick, it's people like you who have ruined this mud over the years and why a lot of people have left for other things. You use Mael as a way to push around the little guy, secure in the knowledge that there's really no way he can ever push back enough to knock you on your ass. *shakes his head*

    To set the record straight.
    This was war never about you killing Marishka, vic himself even admitted it wasnt that big of a deal.
    Core was especially big in the head that night, and upset mostly about the zone stealing, not the death.

    Also Patrick DID tell to me before we "ambushed" them, but after Mael had already slain Marishka AND was halfway through sanction. We just wanted the book we located had no idea about the gauntlets, and woulda been more than happy to give them up.
    And Patrick, Core has always tried to maintain a humble attitude and I know we post a lot on sufs but 90% of that post is coming from the individual not the clan.
    I dont bitch when i talk about zonestealing, we just didnt want to stand for it. As for being battered and naked, that was expected, and no bodys complaining. I warned everyone what would happen but we had to learn the hard way.

    Mael's players aren't better than CORE's', for the most part. Maybe they know the specifics of an extra fight or two.

    The difference is in the leaders and some of the secondary leaders. Let's be honest here - look at who is in Mael. Good players, but some players who I think 90% of the mud assumes has downs syndrome.

    Mael was looking for a fight, they are getting one. CORE needs some better battle healers perhaps, but they are fighting a pretty good fight where most would probably pack up and leave.

    There is something to be said about knowing you're the underdog and fighting, losing, and coming back each time. Look up a quote called "The Man in The Arena" sometime.

    CORE is fighting like BSP fought originally - at a disadvantage in game knowledge/experience, but with an attitude to make up for it.
