Sometimes I really don't get what the staff was aiming for. They wanted to test scouts in gameplay situations, but expect immunity from pk attempts to be cut and dry. Where is the line drawn? If you can use scouts to "scout" enemy positions/renting places/zoning, is that pk? Is popping preps for battles/fights/ambushes pk? Can you use scouts to find unknown highlights? Scouts can recall targets of pk attempts? All scouts should be put into a commonly accesible database because it should be up to the scout to make himself known as such. A mortal should not inadvertently find out and be punished ex post facto. I'm sure the immortals are doing all they can to finish off the class and ensure balance but something must be done here.
That said, every scout will die repeatedly once they are made availble for pk if I have any say (which I probably don't). Regardless of clan affiliation, they will die because of the retarded problems they have caused.

As a rule, any pkill situation should be handled between mortals. <--- most contested rule ever.
  5. Oleg · 6 May 2005
I will not discuss indirect help of immune pk scouts (like preping, spying etc), but direct assisting in pk situations (like recalling targets in this log) should automaticaly make them fair game target. And it is the scout who should be punished in this case, not a player who attacked or killed him. Its just my understanding of the matter.
  6. Derek11 · 6 May 2005
Maybe you fucksticks should just quit being assholes all time time and attacking everyone. Wild is hardly a threat at this point, killing their newbies (if it really is them) only slows the possibility of you being able to have more decent fights.

One of your trash thieves was stealing from a neutral yesterday, he tries to retaliate and you log backup to kill him.

Lauriel random poofs to people all the time. Jesus guys quit being such dicks.

Even though I havn't been involved with any incidents with scouts - I think that is total crap.

If scouts aren't allowed to be involved with pk, they shouldn't be doing anything to help ANYONE involved in pk, weither it's on the attackers side, or the atackee's side.

But that may just be how I see things.

In response to Chris C: I believe you are thinking about how you would use a scout and not how the current immortals are working towards creating a class that is enjoyable for everyone to play. I have been in a lot of situations in which if I were playing my scout as a "clanned" player I would have done (or marked people) differently. However, I don't run any highlight lists nor do I tell people that I associate with that I might "suspect" someone of being associated with a certain clan. You complain about scouts "finding unknowns" and highlighting them, yet how many "unknowns" have been killed in the last week or two? I doubt you will find very many logs, if any.

No, scouts cannot recall targets of pk attempts and that person was punished for his actions (however I'm not entirely sure he knew that at the time.) And I believe the reasons for the current bsp's getting into trouble are because of an idea that scouts are clanned (which they aren't, nor should they be used by clans in such a way) and bsp taking the line that "anyone grouping with said scouts will be pkilled" which completely hampers the ability of the immortals who have put in a lot of days playtime to find out the balancing issues for scouts.

In other words, stop assuming that immortals, who are busting their ass fixing bugs and balancing a class are using the neutrality of scouts to cheat and are out to get you.

And personally, once scouts become balanced and are playable by mortals I will have no problem deleting my scout if the administration feels that the ptested scouts have an unfair advantage over mortals. The time I put into the class has been a worthwhile endeavor and I am glad that I was able to contribute to Arctic's growth in any form possible. Hopefully the class will attract old and new players and create more diversity on the MUD.

    -Gabriel, a scout

Hrrm dont think scouts will be bring more people so to speak. Thus far they are the class that is totally differ from everyone else. Hell they have there own store. Till i see other classes revempted this hvy, i still think arctic needs more help before it can consider bringing new people to the mud that will actually stay pass 2 weeks of wipe. But hell its a start!
  11. al · 7 May 2005
Pking people who simply want to zone is abusive in nature. Let the people who want to play do so; clans that don't allow peace cut off competition, reducing the number of people playing the game.

If clan PK disappears so will the playerbase. Tread lightly.

  13. reafe · 7 May 2005
Well I think scouts have been tested long enough and people are starting to get antsy about this no-pk setup. Although I'm wild I definitely see where BSP is coming from here. Grouping unkowns with scouts, zoning for free, etc. These are things I would be extremely pissed about if I was in the other person's shoes. Templars were tested by mortals for balancing issues and could be in pk and I think its about time scouts are opened up and brought into the realm of pk.
  14. chris T · 7 May 2005
i agree dammit kill em all!
  15. jnick · 7 May 2005
Dont think rushing scouts for pk is a good idea. For one you cant compare templar testing to scout testing. For one scouts were revemped more in depth then templars were. Scouts are to powerful as we speak. Seeing them in pk is not a good idea by far.
  16. Attai · 7 May 2005
In my opinion if they want to keep testing scouts while not allow us to pk the SCOUT that is fine.
But making it so we cant pk anyone that is grouped with a scout is too much, that is abuse just waiting to happen.
The SCOUT may not be affiliated with any clan but the player most likely is and that leaves it wide open to be involved in situations that can be percieved as sketchy, that are only being done to benefit their clan while being immune to pk. Such as prepping with a scout or ,excuse the use, scouting and acting as a human wiz eye.
  17. Malth · 7 May 2005
I can remember a few times scouts like Brazen wee with BSP groups and their actions were highly suspiscous, so BSP needs to shut their fucking cry holes. If you are so worried about scouts cheating to help your enemies, email a higher up and ask them to look into scout X or Y's recent activies involving your highlights.

Scouts need alittle more work before becoming PK targets. I've seen several scouts using skill that are still q bit too good, and honestly, I think sme scouts in the current setup would detroy alot of trash pkers unless they brought lots of backup, which BSP can do since it recruits the majority of the MUD, then resorts to randoming when they find themselves lacking enemies.

Attacking a scout's group screws up the testing of the scout, since I'm quite sure solo-play has been done alot already on those chars.

P.S. Skills like 'zap' or whatever it's called, are too fucking strong, it's an in-combat backstab ffs!
